HEAT PREPARATION FOR 2023 MARCHING SEASON

Due to the high temperatures that have been occurring this summer, we will be monitoring the weather closely in order to ensure the safety of all marching band participants. In the meantime, with summer band around the corner, here are some tips to prepare for the upcoming season.

  • Hydrate

  • Begin spending time outside to acclimate to the heat

  • Hydrate!

  • Acquire school appropriate athletic clothing to keep your body cool

  • HYDRATE!

  • Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen to protect your body from the sun

  • HYYYYYYYDRAAAAATE!!!!

In all seriousness, the best way to prepare for our outdoor rehearsals is to keep yourself hydrated. We will have water jugs to purchase for Everything Day, but if you do not already have one, please bring one to use for the first week (1 gallon minimum recommended).

PART 1 MUSIC AND PART ASSIGNMENTS

Click HERE to access the google folder with the part assignments and PDFs of the show music. Our show music will need to be memorized, so please begin working on this music ASAP if you have not already! ALL BRASS AND WOODWINDS WILL BE EVALUATED ON MEASURE 33-52 (LETTER C-D) OF PART 1 ON FRIDAY, JULY 28.

WOODWINDS AND MARIMBA 1 AND 2: There is an edit for the music between Letter L and Letter M of the music. Please ignore what is written in the original part and learn the music in the “Woodwind/Marimba Edit” folder.

M100 AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

The M100 calendar has been updated with all of the rehearsals for the upcoming school year. You can access the calendar on beltonmarching100.com/calendar. Here are a few things to keep in mind regarding these rehearsals.

  • Any anticipated conflicts need to be communicated to a director ASAP! If you know of any conflicts, please email kevin.kwaku@bisd.net.

  • There are various construction projects occurring between the band hall and our practice field. More effort will be needed to arrive at the practice field on time for rehearsals.

  • Throughout the season, we will be hosting guest clinicians to assist in elevating the quality of our program. These individuals have experienced a great deal of success in the marching activity. In order to make the most of these opportunities, we MUST have quality attendance at these rehearsals. Please avoid conflicts with the following dates.

    • Monday, August 21, 5:00pm-7:30pm with Bob Chreste (Bluecoats, Cedar Park HS)

    • Monday, September 18, 5:00pm-8:00pm with Brittany Dacy (Westwood HS)
