Dear M100 Families, Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Congratulations to our 47 students who earned the highest rating they could – a “1” on their solo AND to the 34 students earning a 1 on their ensemble yesterday at Solo/Ensemble contest at Temple College! So proud of all of these students who really worked hard on a tight schedule to prepare their music! Congratulations to our Winter Guard who placed 9th in their round at the Winter Guard International Dallas Regional Competition in Coppell yesterday. Finally, come out and see the BHS Musical “Into the Woods”! Several of our M100 instrumentalists are performing in the Pit Orchestra and our own Mr. Kwaku is conducting the Orchestra! This is a great display of talents of all of our fine arts departments – instrumental, vocal, drama, and dance! Today is the final performance at 2pm! Come support our students in the arts!
Additionally – as we approach Valentine’s Day – I need to communicate our expectation of student behavior in regards to Public Displays of Affection in the M100. While we encourage a culture of supportive, friendly, appropriate comradery amongst members, we ask that EXTREMELY LIMITED Displays of Public Affection occur in the band hall AND at band and school functions! Please be discrete AND respectful of others as several students have expressed discomfort with the actions of Too Affectionate students. We do not want to have to have an uncomfortable conversation with couples and absolutely do not want to have to issue referrals for inappropriate physical conduct. Once again – we have to consider how we are making others feel around us AND what is considered socially acceptable in regards to public displays of affection. Thank you!

Announcements for this week:
FACILITIES CONCERN:
Students – please RESPECT your band hall and facilities! We are starting to see areas becoming too messy and students not using their lockers to store their instruments. DO NOT post or “decorate” the band hall with any items unless you ask a director for permission first. Unwanted items will be thrown away. Check the Lost and Found by the Assistant’s office and retrieve your items. They will go to Goodwill Tuesday after school. BRASS LOCKER ROOM – keep it cleaner or it will be locked and NO ONE will be able to use their lockers – you’ll have to carry your horns around with you all day! THIS SPACE HAS NOT BEEN USED PROPERLY AND HAS BEEN TOO MESSY LATELY! Do not take your facilities for granted!
Thank you.

Subs will have my direct number to let me know if they have any issues with any students and strict punishment will occur for any disrespectful actions by students. Please respect subs and our facilities.
