Dear M100 Family,


Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Solo and Ensemble contest last weekend! Results are provided in the “New Informantion and Updates” section below. There is a lot going on this week with a guest clinician for our band classes on Tuesday, the Wind Ensemble side by side rehearsals with the middle schools, jazz all-region this weekend, AND a Winter Guard show on Saturday!

NEW INFORMATION AND UPDATES

SPRING SEMESTER SECTIONALS

ALL ENSEMBLES WILL HAVE GRADED, MANDATORY SECTIONALS BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL DURING THE SPRING SEMESTER! Each ensemble will create sectional schedules this week. Sectionals are critical to our success for our upcoming UIL performances, so it is imperative that all sectionals are attended and any arising conflicts are avoided.

2024 SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST RESULTS

Congratulations to ALL students who participated in the Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday. Regardless of results, we are proud of the work and growth that each student has made over the process of learning their music! Below are the results for students who received medals for earning either a Division 1 Solo rating (Superior), a Division 1 Ensemble Rating  a Division 2 solo rating (Excellent).

3/1 PIANO ACCOMPANIST FEE DUE

STUDENTS THAT PERFORMED A SOLO - Accompanist fees will be $50 and checks should be made out to the “Belton Band Boosters”. 


INSTRUCTIONS: Put your money in an envelope on the safe in the band hall by Mr. Kwaku’s office, write your name and the amount on the front, and turn the money in to a director. If you have not submitted your check yet, please do so by Friday, March 1st.


NOTE: If you did not perform your solo on Saturday, you will still need to pay the accompanist fee for their time. We communicate to the accompanists in advance how many solos they will be performing and their expectation is that they are paid for the amount they were assigned.


2/27 CLINIC WITH SHANNON GILL

On Tuesday, February 27, we will have Shannon Gill, Fine Arts Director of Lake Travis ISD and former Director of Bands at Belton HS, out to clinic each of our bands during the class day. Please come to class prepared to learn and provide your undivided attention and respect as she assists us with our UIL music!


2/28 AND 2/29 WIND ENSEMBLE SIDE-BY-SIDE REHEARSALS

On Wednesday, February 28, the High School Wind Ensemble will have a side-by-side rehearsal with the South Belton Middle School Wind Ensemble. We will also perform with the Belton Middle School Wind Ensemble on Thursday, February 29, during 1st period from 8:15am-9:40am. Please be welcoming to the middle school students as we perform their UIL music alongside them, as well as showcase our progress on our own program!


2/29 AND 3/2 JAZZ REGION CLINIC AND CONCERT

The All-Region Jazz Clinic and concert will occur on Thursday, February 29 and Saturday, March 2.


Thursday, February 29: Rehearsal: 5:30pm-8:30pm, Temple HS

Saturday, March 2: Rehearsal, 9:00am-3:30pm, Temple HS (Lunch Break between 11:30am-1:00pm)

Saturday, March 2: Concert (6:30pm Jazz Ensemble Performance, 7:00pm Jazz Orchestra Performance)


NOTE: Students will be providing their own transportation after school on Thursday and on Saturday. Arrive as soon as you can to Temple HS on Thursday after school lets out and arrive by 8:30am on Saturday. Attire for the concert will be the same as with the BHS jazz concerts, solid black attire (button down, slacks and dress shoes).


3/2 WINTER GUARD CONTEST @ DAVENPORT HS

The Winter Guard will be competing at the TCGC contest at Davenport HS (San Antonio) this Saturday, March 2nd at 2:22pm! San Antonio is a far drive, but it will be worth it to watch our team compete and progress through the season! GO GUARD!
