7/14/2024 M100 Summer Update

Dear M100 Family,


There have been a LOT of developments that have taken place over the last few days. I would like to share an update with you to get you up to speed.


COLOR GUARD AND PERCUSSION CAMP IS THIS WEEK

The Color Guard/Percussion camp will begin tomorrow on Monday, July 15. Guard camp will last until Friday, July 19 and Percussion camp will last until Thursday, July 18. Each day will be from 9am-4pm with a 12pm-1pm lunch break. Guard will be in the Large Gym and Percussion will meet in the BHS Performing Arts Center on stage. ALL BAND EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN MOVED INTO THE NEW BAND HALL

As I mentioned in an earlier update, the new band hall was supposed to be ready by July 8th. This did not happen, and as of today the new band hall is still not finished. The old band hall will become a black box theater, and construction wanted us cleared out by this weekend. There was a lot of back and forth on whether or not moving this weekend was a possibility, and there were also concerns that there would be no power in the building on the day that moving would take place, so I did not share the plan out to everyone in the event that things fell through. I was also told that there would be workers provided by the district to assist with the move, so I only asked the student leaders that we met last Thursday and Friday to help to prevent too many people from being around at once. It was not my intention to leave anyone out that wanted to help, but as of now, all band equipment is in the new space.


AS MENTIONED ABOVE, THE NEW BAND HALL IS NOT FINISHED

There is still work that needs to be done in the new band hall, which will prevent us from using any of the rooms as a rehearsal space for the time being. I was told that we will be able to use the new band hall for summer band…but I was also told that after July 8, that the band hall would be ready this week, which will not be the case. At this point, we need to be prepared for anything. I am currently working on a plan for what to do if the band hall is not ready by the week of July 22.


There are various elements of the new band hall that will be a work in progress, even as we begin the fall semester. We are very fortunate to be able to be in a new space, but we will also need to be patient as we work through any and all inconveniences that may arise. This is a wonderful community of students and parents, and I am looking forward to conquering the journey of establishing our brand new band hall!


7/22 LEADERSHIP WORK DAY

Drum majors and section leaders, the leadership work day will be held on Monday, July 22, the day before summer band begins. We will go from 9am-4:30pm.


THE SUMMER BAND SCHEDULE IS UPDATED ON THE BAND WEBSITE

Please check the calendar band website at beltonmarching100.com/calendar to view the dates and times for our upcoming summer schedule. There are a few things to note:


  • Summer band begins on Tuesday, July 23 and will last until Friday, August 9. This will not include weekends.

  • All July dates will be from 8:00am-4:30pm. Lunch will be from 11:00am-12:30pm.

  • On day 1, Tuesday, July 23, ONLY STUDENT LEADERS, FRESHMEN AND NEW MEMBERS WILL MEET AT 8:00AM. The full band will meet all together at 12:30pm. (This does not apply to Color Guard. All members will meet at 8:00am.)

  • On day 2, Wednesday, July 24, ALL SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS WILL MEET AT 8:00AM. The full band will meet all together at 12:30pm. (This does not apply to Color Guard. All members will meet at 8:00am.)

  • On day 3 and for the remainder of summer band, ALL MEMBERS WILL MEET THE WHOLE DAY.

  • August dates will look slightly different due to the Teacher Inservice schedule. There will still only be 1 or 2 blocks of rehearsal, but each day in August will have an evening rehearsal that lasts until 8:30pm. Please utilize the calendar on the band website to keep track of specific dates and times.

  • August 1

  • Fine Arts Showcase Performance - 8:00am-9:30pm

  • Afternoon Rehearsal - 12:30pm-4:30pm

  • Evening Rehearsal - 6:00pm-8:30pm

  • August 2

  • Evening Rehearsal - 5:30pm-8:30pm

  • August 5

  • Morning Rehearsal - 8:00am-11:00am

  • Evening Rehearsal - 5:30pm-8:30pm

  • August 6

  • Morning Rehearsal - 8:00am-11:00am

  • Evening Rehearsal - 5:30pm-8:30pm

  • August 7

  • Morning Rehearsal - 8:00am-11:00am

  • Evening Rehearsal - 5:30pm-8:30pm

  • August 8

  • Afternoon Rehearsal - 12:30pm-4:30pm

  • Evening Rehearsal - 6:00pm-8:30pm

  • August 9

  • Morning Rehearsal - 8:00am-11:00am

  • M100 Parent Preview Performance - 6:30pm student call time, 7:00pm performance, 7:30pm Fire Truck Fun!
