Dear M100 Family,
The week of our first marching contest is here. The work we have done for the past 10-11 weeks has led up to us using all of our work, effort and training to show what we are made of. The mentality we bring to each rehearsal, each class period, and each and every rep will determine how well our performance will go at 9:36am on Saturday in Round Rock, TX.
Let’s throw down this week. No excuses, no holding back.
Here is your weekend update!
INFORMATION AND UPDATES
ELIGIBILITY MATTERS – PASS YOUR CLASSES!
THIS IS THE WEEK OF RECKONING FOR YOUR ELIGIBILITY. TURN IN YOUR ASSIGNMENTS. MAKE UP YOUR TESTS. GO TO TUTORIALS. IF YOU DON’T TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS BY THIS FRIDAY, YOU ARE DONE FOR THREE WEEKS. NO EXCEPTIONS. PASS. YOUR. CLASSES!!!!
In order to participate in extracurricular performances and events outside of the school day, students will need to be academically eligible when we do our eligibility checks. Although Belton ISD operates on a 9-week grading period, we will have a grade check at the 6-week mark in order to operate on a fair playing field to other districts with 6-week grading periods. Our first eligibility check will be on Friday, September 19 at 4:25pm. Any student with a grade below a 70 in an on level class at this time will be considered academically ineligible, beginning on Friday, September 26 at 4:25pm. These students will still be required to attend all rehearsals, but will not be allowed to attend the following events.
- Friday, September 26 – AWAY Football Game @ Cuero HS
- Saturday, October 4 – Vista Ridge Marching Festival
- Saturday, October 11 – USBands Burleson Marching Contest
The 2nd eligibility check will be on Wednesday, October 8 at 4:25pm. Since this is the official end of our grading period, students that were eligible at the first grade check can still lose their eligibility. M100 students are encouraged to keep all grades above a 70 at all times in order to prevent the risk of failing.
M100 INFO FROM BAND BOOSTERS
For Students:
Monday and Tuesday – all students will need to bring their UNDERS to class.
Monday we will be using class time to finish getting all freshmen fitted for their bibbers and everyone will try on the new show tops.

Friday’s game day meal will be Rosa’s Cafe – there are no choices for this week. Students with dietary restrictions will be receiving a separate form to fill out via CutTime.

Concessions are available while watching the contest, however students will need to bring their own money. It is recommended to pack some healthy snacks for the day.

9/13 DRUMS IN THE HEARTLAND PERCUSSION CONTEST RESULTS
The M100 BDL performed in the Drums in the Heartland percussion contest in Killeen, TX last Saturday. I am happy to share that our percussion section placed 3rd in their division, and won Outstanding Front Ensemble in their division as well!
9/17 MIDDLE SCHOOL NIGHT REHEARSAL
The football game on Friday, September 19 will be our M100 Middle School Night, where we will invite the 7th and 8th graders from both Belton MS and South Belton MS to perform with us in the stands during the first half of the game. We will also do a combined halftime performance with the middle schoolers, where we will perform “Land of 1000 Dances”.
On Wednesday, September 17, we will hold a middle school night rehearsal, where we will practice with the 7th and 8th graders. This will also be a great opportunity to get to know the future members of the M100! High school students are expected to be on their best behavior, and to be as inviting and friendly as possible!
Also, if you are wondering why we have scheduled an additional hour of rehearsal, which would bring our total hours of rehearsal to 9 hours for the week, please refer to the Q and A below, which can be found on the UIL Eight Hour Marching Band Rule website.
Q: Does meeting, warming-up or doing a “run through” prior to a performance count towards the eight hours?
A: On performance days (football games, competitions and other public performances) bands may hold up to one additional hour warm-up, run-through or dress rehearsal beyond the eight hour limitation.
We normally do not take advantage of this rule for game days, but in order to maximize our rehearsal time, since the color guard and front ensemble students do not participate in our combined halftime performance with the middle schoolers, we will use an hour of our Friday rehearsal as our “additional dress rehearsal” that we are allotted .
Please understand that I take the 8 hour rule very seriously and do not want to run the risk of the M100 being disqualified for any reason, which is why I am referring directly to the guidelines on the UIL website.
9/19 HOME FOOTBALL GAME VS. SAN ANGELO CENTRAL HS

This is a Prelims/Finals format contest, meaning that if we advance to finals, we will have the opportunity to perform again later in the day.
